In need of some escapism? Enjoy a virtual stroll around Waddesdon’s impressive gardens: https://waddesdon.org.uk/explore-waddesdon-online/explore-waddesdons-gardens-online/
Despite cultural organisations around the world closing their doors as a precaution to reduce the spread of coronavirus, access to history, culture and nature is arguably now more important than ever, offering some much-needed respite during these anxious and uncertain times.
From virtual tours to YouTube films and online audio guides, there are a number of ways to enjoy Waddesdon, the Rothschild House & Gardens in Buckinghamshire, from your home. Check out the latest digital content:
Waddesdon Manor was built at the end of the 19th century by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild. The creation of the garden was an enormous undertaking, beginning with the levelling of a hilltop in 1874. Ferdinand started with a blank canvas; “there was not a bush to be seen or a bird to be heard”, yet seeing beyond these unpromising beginnings, he was able to create a weekend paradise. Through tours online, it is now possible to explore these gardens virtually. https://waddesdon.org.uk/explore-waddesdon-online/explore-waddesdons-gardens-online/
